Welcome to Freedom House a place where grief meets possibility
Meet Mary Jaynes and learn why, at age 79, she walked 550 miles on the Camino in Spain.
Her niece, and mult-media visual artist, Gina Williams, crafted this extraordinary tribute.
Personal and Work updates
Personal
Here’s a triumph. I put together my new sit-stand desk!
With the two men in my life who usually help with these things in absentia, I could have panicked or despaired.
Armed with my new Freedom House perspective, I looked at the box in my entryway, gave myself a pep talk, and decided to try.
I heard the voices in my head tell me,
“You suck at putting together furniture.”
“Where are these men? How dare they disappear and leave me alone with a desk in a box…”
A test run two hours later confirmed that the hydraulic lift was working and the task was complete. My reward - a new desk!
I had a choice.
So do you. The opportunity to start a new narrative.
Yes, I can.
And I did—a new me.
So grab those hiking poles (and maybe a weird Ikea tool, a Phillips-head screwdriver) and a water bottle.
Buttercup, let’s move!
Business
April was a banner month for my 2025 goal of leading conversations with groups about one of my favorite topics:
The (one) reason you can be the person you want to be and have the life you want.
A special thank you to Amanda Raymond for inviting me to be the author-in-residence for her women's wellness retreat in the Azores. Magic happened there. I’m headed to the Galapagos Islands next Spring; we have a few spots left. Wanna come?
Also in April, we collectively turned off our Zooms, and members of the Collaberex community gathered for an in-person, adult summer camp-themed weekend in the Poconos, filled with intimate talks, love, care, support, and fun. Beautiful energy, conversation, and support about what is possible. Looking for your people? Consider checking out the Collaberex community.
What’s up with you, buttercup?
Drop me a note- I’d love to hear.
